With decades of experience behind us, Stratford ITM has become a name locals know and trust. We’ve stood by our customers through changing times, evolving industries, and growing communities—always delivering the same commitment to quality and service
Humble beginnings
Our roots go back to the early 1930s, when Standard Timber began supplying timber and building products to the Stratford and wider Taranaki community. Built on strong values of integrity, hard work, and a deep understanding of local building needs, we quickly became a trusted name in the industry.
In 1993, Standard Timber proudly joined the ITM Group – New Zealand’s largest network of independently owned timber and hardware stores. This partnership gave us access to a nationwide buying group, allowing us to offer better pricing, broader product ranges, and even stronger support to our customers.
As the building industry evolved, so did we. To reflect our connection to the national ITM brand while staying true to our local roots, we rebranded to Stratford ITM. Today, we’re proud to serve builders, tradies, and DIYers across Taranaki with quality materials, expert advice, and the kind of service that only comes from decades of local experience.
The name may have changed – but our people, values, and commitment to your project success remain exactly the same.
