Deciding on the best build for you

We have a dedicated in-house design team ready to help you find the perfect shed or building for your needs. Design and Quote

This service is completely free of charge, including expert design advice, plan preparation, and assistance with the consent process. We also offer a no-obligation site visit at no cost to you. This allows us to assess your property, discuss your needs in person, and provide tailored recommendations to ensure your shed is positioned and designed for maximum functionality. It’s all part of our commitment to making the process easy, transparent, and stress-free from start to finish.

Acceptance

Once you're satisfied with the design and pricing, we’ll take care of the next steps for you. Our team can prepare detailed plans and handle the building consent process, ensuring everything is compliant and ready for construction. We’ll make sure all documentation is in order, so you can move forward without delays. From paperwork to council approvals, we’ve got it covered—making the journey from concept to construction as seamless as possible.

Building your new shed

To ensure a smooth start to construction, a clear and level site is essential for our builders. This helps avoid delays and ensures your shed is built on a solid, stable foundation. While power is not usually required on site, having easy access can be helpful in some cases. If you're unsure about site preparation, our team can provide guidance during your site visit to make sure everything is ready before the build begins.

Full build

Our complete barn packages include everything you need to frame and clad your building, making it the most popular choice — with around 90% of our customers opting for this option. With a team of highly skilled and experienced shed builders, we ensure your shed is constructed to the highest quality standards, built to withstand the test of time.

Materials only

Prefer to manage the build yourself or have your own team lined up? Our materials-only shed package is designed for confident DIYers and contractors who want quality components, delivered ready to go.

We supply all the materials, fixings, and detailed plans — you take care of the rest.

Partial build

With Stratford ITM’s partial build sheds, you choose how much help you need. We’ll take care of the essential parts — like the frame & roof — and you finish the rest when it suits you.

It’s the perfect solution if you want to stay hands-on, save on labour, or spread the build over time.

The best barn type for a hay shed  is a gable roof pole shed. It offers great ventilation, easy machinery access, and can be open-front or enclosed

You can build a pole shed up to 110 m² in a rural zone without a permit, as long as it’s under 4 m high, spans less than 6 m, and meets all other rules.

Consent can vary depending on your location and the size of the shed. We can help you navigate the permitting process or connect you with the appropriate resources.

The pole shed or hay barn must only be one storey. The height must not exceed 4 metres above the floor level. The floor level must not exceed 1 metre off the supporting ground, and the unsupported roof span must not exceed 6 metres.
